Briefra Order Editing · Shopify app
Customers change their address, swap a size, change quantities or cancel, inside the window you set. Briefra refunds the difference or invoices it, and holds the order until it's paid.
Free plan for up to 100 orders a month. Paid plans include a 14-day free trial.
The problem
A wrong house number, the wrong size, one too many, a change of heart. Each one is a support ticket, then a manual edit in your admin, a refund or a payment to chase, and the risk the old version ships anyway. Cancellations are worse: by the time someone reads the email, the parcel may be packed.
Typos and old addresses mean parcels sent back, re-sent and paid for twice.
Every swap done by hand is an exchange that could have been an edit.
Customers who change their mind shouldn't need to wait for your inbox to open.
How it works
From their account, or the link in their order confirmation email, they tap Edit order.
Inside your edit window, nothing fulfilled or sent to a fulfilment service, and within your rules.
Change the address, swap a size or colour, change quantities, add or remove items, or cancel. They see the new total first.
A lower total is refunded automatically. A higher one is invoiced, and the order is held until it's paid, then released automatically.
| New total | What happens |
|---|---|
| Lower | The difference is refunded to the original payment method, automatically. |
| Higher | Shopify emails the customer an invoice for the balance. The app holds the order so it can't be fulfilled, and releases the hold by itself once the balance is paid. |
| The same | Saved straight away. |
| Cancelled | Refunded in full to the original payment method, and the items restocked. |
The order keeps its number, the customer gets Shopify's updated order email, and the change shows in your admin as a normal order edit.
Features
Features marked Pro are on the Pro and Scale plans.
Shipping address, size or colour swaps, quantities, adding and removing items, and cancelling with a refund, on every plan.
Choose how long customers can make changes, from 1 minute to 30 days. It closes early as soon as fulfilment starts.
Choose which changes are allowed (address, items, cancel), and exclude products or product tags.
Offer chosen products or a collection while the customer edits, with an optional discount.
Email alerts for cancellations and edits over an amount you set Pro. Anything you must act on, like an edit that only partly worked, is emailed on every plan.
Every customer edit with before and after, and a running count of the support tickets it saved you.
An "Edit your order" button for your order confirmation email, so stores on legacy customer accounts can offer edits too.
When a customer asks for a change through Shopify's own request flow, the app approves it by your rules or leaves it for you.
New addresses are checked, limited to countries you ship to, and kept within the order's country unless you allow otherwise.
If part of an edit fails, the app undoes what it can, records exactly what happened and alerts you. Nothing is refunded or applied twice.

Swaps on every planSize and colour swaps aren't held back for paid plans.
Limits count orders, not editsEach order counts once a month, however many times it's changed.
Held until paidAn edit that raises the total is held from fulfilment until the balance is paid, then released automatically.
FAQ
Yes. The Edit order button on the order page needs Shopify's new customer accounts, so for stores still on legacy accounts the app gives you an "Edit your order" button to paste into your order confirmation email. It opens a secure edit page for that order, with the same rules. Stores on new customer accounts can use both.
If the new total is lower, the app refunds the difference to the original payment method straight away. If it's higher, Shopify emails the customer an invoice for the balance and the app holds the order so it can't be fulfilled, then releases the hold by itself once the balance is paid. A cancelled order is refunded in full and its items restocked. The customer sees the new total and the difference before they confirm.
Every plan lets you set the edit window, from 1 minute up to 30 days after the order is placed. On Pro and Scale you also choose which kinds of change are allowed (address, items, cancel) and exclude products or product tags. On Free and Starter every kind of change is allowed and nothing is excluded.
Editing closes the moment fulfilment starts: once any item is fulfilled, or the order has been sent to or accepted by a fulfilment service. The app also re-checks the order with Shopify right before saving every change, so a change can't slip in after fulfilment has begun.
Yes, where Shopify doesn't allow editing or it isn't safe: local delivery orders, Shop Pay Installments, imported orders, orders with product bundles, subscriptions, B2B orders, gift cards, archived or cancelled orders, orders whose payment is pending or not fully captured, and orders that still have an unpaid balance from an earlier edit. The customer sees a plain reason and how to contact your store.
Every order your store receives in the billing month counts once, whether or not it's edited, and a customer can edit the same order as often as your rules allow. If you go over your plan's limit, new edits pause until the next billing month or until you upgrade; an edit already under way always finishes, and you get an alert.
Shopify doesn't recalculate shipping on an edited order. So by default customers can only move an order to another address in the same country, and only ever to a country you ship to. You can allow changes to another country in Settings if your shipping rates make that safe. Tax can be recalculated for the new address; the app settles any difference as above.
Only what an edit needs: the order, and the customer's name, email, phone and shipping address. Addresses in the edit log are encrypted and removed 120 days after the edit, and everything is deleted when Shopify asks on your customer's behalf or 48 hours after you uninstall. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
On the Free plan a small "Powered by Briefra" line shows on the customer's edit screens. Starter, Pro and Scale remove it.
Uninstall the app from the Apps section of your Shopify admin. Shopify stops billing for it, the app's access to your store ends at once, and your store's data is deleted 48 hours later. You can change plans at any time from the app's Plan page.
